School districts in the greater Houston region have begun to announce campus closures on Monday ahead of icy weather that is forecast to begin creeping into the area this weekend.

Houston, Alief, Sheldon, Deer Park, Spring, Livingston ISDs, and Lamar and Goose Creek CISDs, announced they would pivot to online-only work and learning on Monday and Tuesday, and that campuses will be closed for all in-person instruction on those days.

Fort Bend, Katy, Pearland, Tomball, Waller, Spring Branch, Sheldon, Galena Park, Channelview ISDs, which had scheduled Monday as a student holiday in observance of President's Day, announced students and staff would be working remotely on Tuesday.

Conroe, Aldine, Galveston and Liberty ISDs will be completely closed both Monday and Tuesday. Staff in Cypress-Fairbanks, Dickinson, Cleveland,  will work remotely on Monday while students have the day off, but school and work will be completely canceled in that district on Tuesday.

Humble ISD will move to virtual instruction on Monday, according to Superintendent Elizabeth Fagen, but officials have not yet made a decision about Tuesday.

SCHOOL CLOSURES:Keep up with the running list of school closures due to bad weather

La Porte ISD's scheduled professional development day for staff will be held remotely on Monday.

School superintendents across the region are scheduled to have a conference call with emergency officials Friday afternoon to discuss the winter weather forecast ahead of Monday, when forecasts across greater Houston call for temperatures dipping into the teens and chances of ice, sleet and snow.

This is a developing story. Check back for updates.
